My New Theme
So, I’ve felt like changing things around here for a while. I’ve been looking at different themes available and have found some great stuff. Some that were free. Some that cost a little money. But all good.
At first, I thought I’d go really minimal. Then I thought I’d go more modern and creative. I love the grungy look, so kept going back to that. Then I saw this theme.
This theme speaks volumes about me, as a person. Although I am one that likes all of the above, and often dabbles in each category, this theme is truly me and my life. A little bit of this, and a little bit of that. There may be family, travel, food or tech involved. And, of course, my faith is at the center of it all. But, the reality is, it is all a bit messy, thrown together and always on the edge of chaos. I seem to thrive in that.
So, enjoy it, use it, engage it. But most of all, know that it’s me and my little world.
As you play with the theme and see something that isn’t working right or something that works great, feel free to let me know. I will continue adjusting minor things over time, but, what you see…is what you get
Everything Comes Down To Poo…
Yesterday, Twitter was a buzz with my twitpic of this book…
In honor and recognition of this event. I give you, “Check the Poo”…
I Got A Ticket!
I just have to vent for a moment. I even designed some really impressive pictures to help this make sense
I got a ticket yesterday. I made an illegal right turn. I used to live on the Southwest side of town. I used to travel down this road almost everyday and I made this turn over and over. It’s been about 3 years since I’ve lived in that area and so I never drive down this road. I happened to be driving in this area yesterday and made a turn I used to make all the time. When I turned, I saw a couple of cop cars with their lights on. One had a car pulled over and another was coming towards me going the opposite way. The one coming toward me did a quick U turn and began to follow me. He had his lights on before I got to him and I just thought he was turning around to help the other cop car. But he kept following me, so I pulled over to let him by and he pulled over with me. I had no clue what was going on. I hadn’t done anything…that I was aware of. The cop asked for my stuff and then explained to me why he pulled me over. They had just changed the lane at the right turn I made. It is now illegal to do what I did. “Did you know this” he asked me. I told him I had no idea. I did not know about the new change. Then he told me, “well we are ticketing people to let them know about the changes.” WHAT?!?! Your informing me about changes by giving me a ticket. Not a warning, a ticket. A $242 ticket!
Ok, here’s what happened. This is a drawing of the corner showing what the turn lane looked like and how we used to pull up to the intersection, veer to the right and make the turn.
This next picture shows what the intersection looks like now. Exactly the same only with some new white lines.
Now, in my attention to detail, I made sure to show you how there is absolutely ZERO signage to let anyone know about the new changes or whether or not the turn could be made. I guess the new white lines make it illegal.
The cop told me there was an unmarked car at the corner and as people turned illegally, he would radio the two cruisers and they would pull us over.
Doesn’t this seem a bit extreme? Should they be ticketing or warning? This is a new change and people are basically being picked out at random (cause they can’t pull everyone over) and being made an example of, all for the sake of us knowing that we can’t turn like this anymore.
I was ticketed in a sting…for illegal turns…
So, my rant has ended, you are free to take it up from here. I have a good record, so I will be calling traffic school and hopefully working off the ticket and it won’t cost me anything. We’ll see.
My friend Vince was kind enough to fill in some other details (that I am not sure actually happend) and he also posted a nice video to help us smile
