Weekend Recap…Camping Style

This post is a part of “Sunday Setlists”

This weekend was a bit different for me. I had the weekend off from leading worship and instead went camping with my son Dakota. Every year, our church holds an event called “Fish Camp”. It is a “guys” only event and we encourage dads and sons to participate. We also have grandparents with grandkids and neighbors with family friends. It is always a blast. The food is incredible and it is such a peaceful and relaxing time. It is held at a camp our church manages for the county called “Camp Apserkaha”. It is right on the shores of a Howard Prairie Lake. Absolutely beautiful!

Here’s the fish Dakota caught!

When we got home last night, we came home to this…

A crazy thunder storm. It was awesome! We don’t get them a lot in Southern Oregon, but when do, they remind me of the days we used to visit family in the midwest. I love me a good thunderstorm. Of course, what does the “in” family do when there is lightning and thunder? We grab all our electronics and grab pics/video and audio :)

A little audio of the thunder…

A little video on the lightning…By the way, we run back into the house at the end of this clip to get the computer out of the rain :)

Meatballs…

Disclaimer: If you have any issues with meat, onions, spices or the word balls…
do not watch this video.

Slight Diversion

I went an entire week, writing posts and then nothing. Have no fear, I have just been diverted for a couple of days. I am up in Portland with my buddy Joshua. As I am writing this, he is interviewing for a position with the Portland Rescue Mission. I won’t say much about it, because if Joshua does get the job, I am sure he would love to give you all the details.

So, in the meantime, I give you a slight diversion(thanks to my wife)…

No Mo’ Breakfast…

My Kids Rock!

If you come by here often, you will notice that I like to brag on my kids. I am not a person that is a jerk about it, like “mine are better than yours”. I am just very proud of them, their hard work and how they use their gifts.

So…anyway…

Here are a couple of videos of my kids. The first is of my Daughter Kassidi(14) and her friend Daniel. They are playing a song that Daniel put together. The second is of my son Dakota(12) jamming on the drums.

Enjoy, I know I do!

Fear…

While we were in Nashville this last week, we had the opportunity to worship with Crosspoint Church. Crosspoint is in the midst of a series called Paralyzed. Discussing things that hold us back from living out life as God intended.

While we were there, we met a ton of great people. Some we knew from the Blog/Twitter world, many we had never met before. But we were meeting all of them, for the first time, face to face. It was awesome! One of those people was Matthew Paul Turner. Matthew is an author and has a wonderful wife, Jessica and a beautiful little baby boy Elias. I wish we had more time to get to know Jessica and Elias, but my brief conversations with Matthew were wonderful.

Last Summer, I did a little thing on my blog called 10 books in 10 weeks. I set myself a challenge to read a book a week for 10 weeks and then blog about it. The first book I read was Matthew’s book, “The Coffeehouse Gospel”. I immediately fell in love with the intelligent, humorous and even sarcastic approach that Matthew had to writing. This week, I received Matthew’s new book, “Churched”. I am anxious to dig into it.

While attending the services with Crosspoint, we were treated to a reading written and performed by Matthew. I loved it and wanted to share it with you. Enjoy!
