Sunday Setlist (w/video)

This weekend was really cool at Table Rock. Attendance was way up. I expect that many people are back from Christmas vacation, as well as many that may have made new resolutions to attend more, or even to attend for the first time. Frankly, I am not concerned over the reason. I am just very grateful that people came this weekend.

We started a new series called “Chasing Daylight”. Erwin McManus wrote a great book called, “Chasing Daylight”. The emphasis of his book is to live with passion and seize every moment. To never miss out on great opportunities God may be placing in front of you. It is not a “better living” thing. It is a “God is working” thing and we should see it and be a part of it. We have taken that “seize the moment” aspect, but have placed it into focusing on the book of Proverbs. Seizing every opportunity, but doing it with the guide of God’s wisdom. Today was awesome and I expect the rest of this series to be great.

Technically, things went well, considering we reset the stage an hour before rehearsal on Saturday. We found a few issues, but once everything was patched, tech was smooth. Most importantly, people came to participate this weekend. it was awesome to watch and hear people get involved with everything going on. Very responsive crowd of people this weekend.

We sat in a far section of the worship center today and it was really difficult for me not to see a lot of things that needed to be worked on. New perspective, new issues. I have trouble going to church services and not critiquing them. It is my own fault, but also part of my job. Regardless, the message was great and communion time was incredible as always.

Here’s the set list…

All Because Of Jesus by Steve Fee
Amazing by Matt Redman
Mighty To Save by Hillsongs
Praise To The Lord, The Almighty by Passion
Revelation Song by Gateway Worship

On a side not, I have been using the churches new Flip Mino HD camera the last couple of weeks. I love how compact and easy it is to use. But, after putting it through the paces the last couple of weeks, I have decided to return it to Amazon. It has some issues. Crashes a lot. Sound is terrible! And video is pretty blown out. I’ve done some comparing and I will be picking up a Kodak Zi6 instead. Similar package and price, but some comparison’s have been made and it is proving itself to be better.

With all that said, here is one of the tunes we did this AM. It is a song called “Revelation Song”. It is originally performed by Kari Jobe at Gateway Church. We do this song very simple, but vocalists Vanessa and Jonathan really sound great together. It is a very moving and powerful song for me. But, like I said, a bit blown out and sound quality stinks…

Guess how annoyed I am that it won’t play SMOOTHLY for me?!?!

And for real….her voice makes my spine tingle! Always has!

Wait till it loads in completely. Vimeo plays better it when it’s loaded in first.

Kristin! Hey it’s good to see you hear. This song is probably one of the top 3 favorite of mine that we’ve done this year.

  3. Bran January 4, 2009 at 8:51 pm #

    AWESOME!!!

My favorite part is when it’s just drums and voices.

I’ve said it a hundred times and I need to say it again….God speaks to me through music, clearly. Not just “oh I totally got the message of that song.” More like “You come to church to worship ME. You don’t come to church to enjoy the feeling you get (that’s a bonus). You don’t NOT go because it’s not your favorite church ever. You go for ME.”

Dang if that didn’t make me cry.

We did “Revelation Song” as well. Funny, it was on my heart all week, and then it showed up on the setlist. (it wasn’t my rotation to pick) It is a great song – simple, yet powerful in it’s own way.

I’m looking forward to seeing the vid with your new camera. I agree about the video quality here. Hopefully the new one will be an improvement.

I love Praise to the Lord, the Almighty. It’s a favourite hymn of mine. And it’s so great that some folks are doing new versions of the best hymns and making them vertical, too.

Would love to see the vid, but our ‘broadband’ here in SA is too slow. Will checkout the song somewhere if I can find it.

Cheryl, I saw you posted a video of it as well. Very cool.

Mike, Thanks for coming by. It is an amazing song!

Fred, I lead all weekend. That was me playing keys. I just didn’t lead that song.

Louise, I love hymns. I also love the new arrangements out there. Brings a new life to them. Hope you’re able to check out Revelation Song. It is powerful!

Papa,, And we miss you and love you guys!

Her voice is great! Beautiful. She sings with fluidity. And those harmonies! That is a very difficult song to sing because the melody is really. . . all over the place at some points, but to harmonize along with was incredible. It’s a tough, tough harmony. They do sound great together.

I’m currently in a class that meets for eight hours this whole week (which counts for two credits, as if it were the whole semester) on a class about worship. We’ve been talking a lot about participation, and what that looks like– and how there are sub-cultures within each church, etc… it’s been an enlightening class already, and it’s only Monday.

One question.. It seems like all the cool kids on the block use vimeo.. I’m not jumping in. Vimeo will never pay me but will make money off my videos… Why do you use vimeo?

  18. gitz January 5, 2009 at 9:02 pm #

So, how many times is it ok to watch something before it can be called an obsession?

    Loved this…

    Paul, I agree!

3amjosh, honestly, I hate YouTube. I think the quality is crap for SD videos and the whole social scene there is a lot like MySpace. I have gotten so many gay solicitations towards my 12 yr old son. It’s a bit disturbing. I am constantly deleting comments. I think Vimeo is smooth, easy to use, great quality and full of high end projects and creators. I like that network. And,how does Vimeo make money off my videos? Are you just talking about embedding for HD videos?

Gitz, haha. Watch as much as you’d like.

I love how your vocalists are on opposite sides of the stage. It’s nice visually. Instead of it being a concert style…love it.

Mandy, we actually just changed that this week. We have been in all different places on stage, but I really likes this setup this week. Tam was a little uncomfortable being right at the edge of the stage, but she could speak to that if she wants to :)

Great job on “Revelation Song”! It is a favorite of mine.

We are getting ready to learn “All Because Of Jesus” !

Awesome! Right before we left for Africa I heard that song and it was an instant favorite. When I saw it was that song I had to download your video (downloading anything is a big deal here – ‘big deal’ as in it takes forever, an hour and 15 minutes for this video!). But seeing/hearing it done at TRF was special – you guys did a fantastic job with that song! I had no idea Jonathon had a voice like that, when we were there he just kind of seemed to blend in with the group mainly so I can’t say I’d ever heard just his voice before. Can I be so obnoxious as to request that you guys do it again when we’re there on the weekend of Feb 15th?! Though it might make me cry, and we can’t have any crying in worship! :) (I think just being there is going to make me cry – we miss our TRF family a ton!) …Actually, I think you guys could play ‘row, row, row your boat’ and we’d be just thrilled to be there again! :)

    Hey Brent,
My husband and I soooo love this song and wondered when you guys were going to start recording some of your music for the TRF crowd?? We really want this one by Vanessa. We listen to some of the songs you do at TRF, from the original artists, and we like how you do it better:)
    Keep up the good work!

  31. inWorship January 16, 2009 at 10:43 am #

Brad!I will see what I can do for the 15th. It is going o be so good to see you guys!

Julene, we are working hard to put together some sort of project. We are getting lots of requests from the church and we think it is time to focus on it. So we will see what we can do!
