I Hate Voicemail
I am a text person. I love email and texting. It’s quick, easy, I’m always connected to it and there’s a paper trail. Plus, it’s all dealt with on my own time. It’s one of the reason’s I love Twitter as well
Voicemail, however, can drive me nuts! I find myself needing to deal with it right away. Depending on the phone you own. There is either a flashing light or a beep that doesn’t go away until you listen to or erase your voicemail. Once I started using the iPhone, most of my worries went away. The visual voicemail system on the iPhone is brilliant. Deal with it when I want. Refer back to it over and over and pick and choose which messages I want to listen to. No menus, waiting through messages or accidental deletions.
I thought I was set…until now!
Enter Spinvox. My buddy Matt Singley was giving away free subscriptions to Spinvox for being a Twitter friend. Needless to say, I was entered in the drawing and walked away with one of the subscriptions.
So what is Spinvox? Simply put, it’s voice to text. In other words, it takes my voicemails, transcribes them and sends me a text version. No dealing with flashing lights, or annoying beeps. No dealing with menus or wading through messages. Instead, all of that, is replaced with neat, efficiant text copies of my voicemails. I love it!!!
I now recieve my voicemails in email and text. Once a voicemail is recieved, it took less than a minute to recieve a text on my phone and about 2 minutes to recieve an email copy of the voicemail. This is awesome! I use Google email and using a filter has now made this even more beautiful.
So how can you get into Spinvox? It’s easy. Check out Spinvox on the web. Sign up. Setup. And, your done! Setup literally took me about 2 minutes. The sign up process is easy and painless. And the cost? A couple of cups of coffee per a month.
So, if you are interested. Head right now to Spinvox and sign up for a trial. Give it a shot. You will love it I am sure! If you try it out. Let me know what you think.

Halfway through the second paragraph I was thinking “you do know Im going to be calling and leaving you a voicemail everyday now dont you?”
Only, Spinvox took that joy away from me.

But now I could have a text copy of your message forever. Isn’t that better
Funny, I just wrote about how much I hate Voicemail too! Couple questions for you about your experience with SpinVox:
1. How is the transcription? Many spelling errors? Anything that comes across unrecognizable?
2. Does it email you an audio file of the message?
3. Does this eliminate your “traditional” access to voicemail on your iPhone?

Jason, Haha. I read your post and I feel your pain.
First of all, there is no perfect application, but Spinvox does exactly as it says. It converts voice to text.
In all the text I have received, Spinvox has done very well to transcribe without errors. there were a few, but none that caused me to not understand what was said.
I have it set up to both email me and text me. That way, I can either text right back, or deal with it later via email.
This eliminates the phones voicemail. All voicemail will go through the voicemail box setup by Spinvox. This also gives you the option to go listen to your voicemail as well, if there is a transcription error.
In reading your post, I would say to definitely go check out Spinvox and sign up for their free trial. I think you would love it.
Glad you’re loving it! I signed up in Feb of 2007 and haven’t been without it since. And, if you really want to listen to Brandy’s constant harassing voicemails, you’ll notice you get a link that allows you to call in and do so. I have to confess though, I listen to roughly 1 in 100 VMs that are left for me, something that has always bothered the…ahem…older members of my extended family. “How impersonal, don’t you want to hear my voice?!?” Ha ha! No.

Matt hooked me up with a Spinvox account awhile ago and I will NEVER go back to listening to messages. I love getting all my messages emailed to me. The only transcription problems that I have noticed are usually name related. My cousin Bethany now, thanks to Spinvox, will forever be known as “Buffoony”…I told her to enunciate. Seriously…if you haven’t signed up for Spinvox yet, what are you waiting for?!
Matt, I love the links in both the email and text. I click on my iphone and I am returning calls or replying via text…or listening to Brandy’s messages
Rachel, very cool! Buffoony…Hahaha!!!
“if you really want to listen to Brandy’s constant harassing voicemails,”
now, now, don’t feel left out. I can call and leave you harrassing voicemails too. I don’t discriminate.
“or listening to Brandy’s messages” B, you love me.
Giggles don’t come across the same on text.

just make sure you say LOL and not laugh out loud. Cause that could be very confusing. Haha.
I too dislike voicemail – I especially dislike it when a certain staff member sends me those voicemails on purpose – you know, just call me or text me bro!

you know what drives me nuts. When people call like 4 times in a row and never leave a message and then ask you why you didn’t call back.
“Was I supposed too? Cause you didn’t tell me…”
