Positive Post Tuesday(even though it’s really late)
(Sheesh. I meant to put this up this AM, but better late then never)
Last weekend, we handed out a $50 bill at each of our services. The intent, was to encourage the recipient to find and then to bless someone or multiple people with that money. We aske dthem to pray about it and then go for it. We also asked them to let us know what they did with the money. We received this email from one of the recipients. Loved this!
I wanted to get back to you about who I gave the $50 to. Let me start by saying that I have never felt such a responsibilty to spend $50 the “right way” considering it was the church’s money and the meaning of it as a gift. It was on my heart that day to give it to a woman that comes to the bible study I have in my home on Tuesday nights. She and her husband are such amazing people of faith and love the Lord. They have sacrificed in many ways to care for others.
Her grandmother died a couple of weeks ago and she lived in Southern CA. The memorial service is this weekend and they were wanting to make the trip down there with their 6 children (all have been foster children and they have adopted 3 of them) but things are very tight for them financially. After my initial thought to give her the $50 I put the money in my Bible and prayed about. I wanted to make sure that I was a good steward of the money entrusted to me. My husband and I even talked about giving it to someone that is not a believer to draw them closer to God. I prayed that God would make it clear to me who this was suppose to go to.
So, I had not spoken to my friend and heard if they had decided to make the trip or not. I learned tonight in our study that they decided to trust God and go to be with her family and she plans to sing in the service. I felt it was then clear to me that I was to give her the money.
I shared with her after our study how I got the $50 to give to her and how I had prayed about it. She then teared up and testified that she had told her husband that they needed $600 for them to be able to make the trip and pay for gas. The $50 I gave her made the total of money she has been given this week $600, confirming to her that she can trust in God and he will provide for her and her family. She was incredibly grateful and humbled by the gift. I believe that her reinforcement of trusting God to provide all that she and her family need will minister to many people about God’s love and how that can be shown through the generosity of other people.
