Sunday Setlist #3
I’m always amazed how one can have all sorts of strength when they are focused on God. I grew up watching my Dad, a Pastor, fall deathly ill on Sunday AM, go on to preach 4 services with no issues, and then go home and crash.
This happened this AM for a couple of our vocalists. One of our leaders today was having such bad kidney pain, she was physically ill and we were wondering if she was going to need medical attention. But, she was as strong as ever on stage. My wife sings with us and she has been dealing with illness all week and was great through the services but hasn’t left bed since we’ve been home. I am grateful they both made it through. We needed them up there.
Last night, stepping off stage, I felt like I was in a haze. Almost like I wasn’t a part of what we just did. It was strange. No physical issues. I wasn’t sick or dizzy or anything. I just left the stage and thought, what just happened? It was odd. I have been tired, but I think my mind just totally relaxed last night. It was interesting.
In the midst of all that, we started a new series on the Book of James. James is often considered the Proverbs of the New Testament. A very good, practical book of living. James had a way of leaving all political correctness aside. He would just get to the point. I love that.
One thought in the midst of the message was dealing with the word “Consider”. James 1:2 says to “consider it all joy when you face trials”. Some translations say “count”. But the word consider holds so much more meaning. To consider is to look ahead. To plan. This took me to the word “Considerate”. I began thinking about what it means to be considerate. Then the two put together take on a whole meaning for me. To be a considerate person, I need to plan ahead. In other words, I need to know compassion and grace, before I can even extend it. Anyway, just a side note.
So, we mellowed out the setlist a bit today. Started with something low key and then had a chance to mix it up a bit. One of our guitarists today, noticed that we were very Tomlin heavy today. not by choice, but it worked out just fine
Here is the setlist…
Glory In The Highest by Ed Cash, Chris Tomlin, Jesse Reeves, Daniel Carson, Matt Redman
Made To Worship by Christ Tomlin, Ed Cash, Stephan Sharp
All Creature of Our God and King by St. Francis of Assisi (David Crowder Version)
Your Grace Is Enough by Matt Maher
In Your Presence by Tracy Frech, Billy Smiley
I Surrender All (Communion) by Judson Wheeler Van DeVenter, Winfield Scott Weeden
This post is a part of Sunday Setlists at good Ol’ Fred’s blog

We did a sermon series on James three years ago, and it’s still one of my favorites. I like your thoughts on “consider”!

oooh, I love In Your Presence. So pretty. Who sang it? Was it a solo or all of you?
Brandy’s last blog post…Oh how I love them!
Also, everytime I was pregnant, I was always so weak I could barely stand for long periods of time. I would even sit on a stool to cook. But during church I would be standing, singing, clapping, almost jumping.
I can count on one hand for all three pregnancies where I had to sit down. And that was because I didn’t want to fall in church. I wanted to save that for AFTER the baby was born.
Anyway, yes it is amazing how you can have all sorts of strength when praising God.

Yeah just a “little” Tomlin heavy
My guitarist is always the first notice when I go that route as well! I absolutely LOVE Glory in the Highest though. Real singable and such a great song! I could never use it as the opener though because our congregation isn’t very punctual and I’d hate to toss it away
Crowder’s All Creatures is Top 3 hymns that I love doing too! Good stuff!
