Today…
Today, I stand in a line for hours.
Today, all the patience is rewarded.
Today, is Christmas, birthday and any other event where you get presents…rolled into one.
Today, I throw my crappy cell phone in the trash.
Today, is a beautiful day.

Just for some clarification. I owned the first generation iPhone. I’ve had it since Christmas. I sold it a month ago so that I could buy the new one. I actually made $50 in the deal
So, I got down to the store at about 7AM this morning. Turned out it was just in time. They did a head count around 7:30, I was number 63. They then told us they only had 70 phones. When I got to the front of the line, they only had 1 phone left of the model I wanted. I lucked out. I got home about 10:30 and now just waiting to activate it and use it
The iPhone… 150 Gazillion contacts….
How much battery life does it have?

Carl, it wasn’t the software, it was a glitch with the servers downloading the software.
Apple did not seem prepared to deal with the launch of 2.0 software, iPhone 3G and MobileMe at the same time.
Everyone who had an issues can just restart and restore and they are fine.
i had to wait 2 hours before the servers were back up so I could activate, but now it’s all golden and I am enjoying it!
Yeah all 3 together could cause issues. That is a lot of traffic to contend with.

Don’t forget that Apple also opened up like 23 brand new markets worldwide today as well. What were they thinking!

OK….throw me in the fire…. but I’ve read a lot of blogs today about people getting their new iphone. Now, I love apple. I do. I’m on my MBP right now.
But… i feel people are getting a little too excited about a piece of plastic/metal communication device. Serious… is it that incredible?

Travis, your right, it’s just a big hunk of plastic and wire. But I do believe it is the greatest hunk of plastic and wire available. And I do believe that you, as a Mac user, would love it.
With that said, I personally thought of waiting till next week to get one, but I had to take part in this crazy day. What a blast it was. I actually met a ton of great people and now I have some great stories.

I remember when the first one came out, people were talking about how we were killing kids in Africa, cause we bought an iPhone. this time has been a little more tame

Annie, just to ease your mind. the old phone was not literally thrown in the trash. It was put back into the drawer for any emergencies with the other phones int he family. If I see the need to get rid of it completely, it will be handed of to one of our local recyclers.
