The 40 Day Fast
I have the privilege this year of joining the 40 day fast. No I will not be fasting for 40 days, but I will be fasting a specific day during the next 40. There are 2 teams of of people that will fast one day each over the next 40 days.
So what is this all about? Here is a summary.
Who:
40 bloggers who will each fast for 1 day.
What:
They will blog about an area of need in the world (either a cause or a country) and an organization that strives to meet that need.
Why:
The purpose behind it is to give people an opportunity to:
1. Experience a bit of need
2. Learn about the need in the world
3. Do something about it
Today is Day #1 of the fast. You are welcome to follow along with those who are involved, or get involved yourself. Pick a day or more during the next month and join in. Blog about it and share with us what or who is on your heart and how we can be involved.

What an awesome thing! I will join this. Fasting is the clearest I have ever heard the Lord’s voice..no doubt-face to the floor, and wondering as I type why I don’t do it more often?

I’m ‘in’ for every Mon.-Thurs. June 30th – July 31st (‘limited’ fast ’til 4 PM)
…for an ‘unspoken need’ that I believe could impact the world as well =)!
I doubt I’ll be ‘reporting’ about it though, since I don’t have a blog, so no need to put me on the list. ‘Hopefully it’ll still be ‘valid’ though I’m not a real blogger.
As Darla said though, ‘hearing His voice’ is what’s most important, so it’s HIS report I’m most interested in =}!
(I’ll enjoy hearing y’all’s too though, and we’ll see if we’re ‘on His ‘wavelength’ together =)!

I just got a link to a video from some friends we knew in Africa when we were there in ‘92. They are going back soon, but have already been active in setting up a website for the hospital work there.
It’s a definite ‘world need’ (though already an existing ministry to meet it), so you or others might want to consider praying for Galmi Hospital in your assigned day for fasting and prayer.
The only people in the video who were there when we were are Linda Hardy and Dorothy Kalloch. Dorothy is amazing! She was in her 60’s teaching Hausa (the national language) when we were there, and had already been there 30+ years! She’s ‘retired’ several times since we came back, but ends up being called back (willingly =)there to teach again.
