I’ve Been Called Out
So a blogging friend of mine who shall remain nameless (LOVE!!!) has called me out.
Last night we enjoyed an awesome time with a bunch of you at our live chat. Tam and I are humbled that you guys want to actually spend time with us. It’s awesome!
At our first chat and also last night, Tam and I were asked to sing. I can honestly say that I am not a performer. I love music, I love playing and singing, but more than that I love to produce and create. That’s always been my heart and passion. I love being the guy in the back or behind the curtain making it all work and sound better. God has me in front of the mic as well right now and I’m good with that. It’s an honor. But, when I am put on the spot, I generally am not one to go for it. I don’t believe I have something amazing to show you. I am blown away by the talent I hear everyday all over the place and I like to appreciate that. I know my strengths and weaknesses and I am comfortable with them.
So, with all that said, I did say last night that I would post up a song that Tam and I have led together in church recently. There is a CD by a Vineyard church in Cincinnati called Dwell. I highly recommend it. I love that project. We do a couple of songs off of it as a church and this is one of them. It is called “Waiting On You Again”.
I play piano and sing with a great group of musicians and vocalists every week. It’s a blast. Please keep in mind this is live from one of our services, it is raw, and it is a rough mix. This is just used for reference for us as a team to listen to and for new players to learn parts and arrangements.
But in honor of all you who asked, especially Love, here is Tam and I leading “Waiting On You Again”.

Solid. I likey. Good mix too (from soundboard?) I’ll have to check out the Dwell record.
Jad’s last blog post…Thursday’s Question: To Vespa or Not to Vespa?
Dude even as a raw mix that is amazing!! I’m totally going to pass this on to our worship leader at SPCC and see what he thinks about doing it sometime!!
Great job and thanks for posting this!! Have your sound engineer email me about the equipment he uses for recording too

Thanks guys, really it means a lot.
Both of you asked about the tech, so here’s the deal. First, I am honored to have my brother as our lead Front of House guy. He is an incredible engineer and works mainly in the studio recording field. That was my experience before going into the ministry as well.
For equipment, we are using a Digidesign Venue as our main console. We have the firewire option for Pro Tools LE so we can tack for reference and archiving. This mix is back off the board feeding the Pro Tools tracks through it. I usually just run everything back through the console, make rough mixes and then archive them for players to learn our arrangements and that’s what this is.
nice bro!

Yall need to stop making me cry!!!!!!!
You both are so beautiful to me. Please, please adopt me!
Brent, you have a beautiful voice. What a gift from God and you are using it to glorify Him, hallelujah!
And Tam, sniff, you already know how much I LOVE YOU!!
And the best thing about listening to this song was how much glory yall were giving God and that is the most beautiful thing ever. PRAISE GOD!!!

Les, thanks, I know that is from your heart.
Hi!
That was GOOD!
Thank you.
brainteaser’s last blog post…Life is a Brainteaser
Good choice of songs to share. It’s definitely ‘you’, and I admit I think of you every time I sing it too (possibly because it’s co-written by another Brent H.??).
When I read ‘Love’s challenge’, I was thinking of sharing the song you sang on Marianne’s ‘Stories of the Heart’ CD since it’s the only one I have of you singing (tho’ no Tam harmony). Though it wasn’t ‘raw’ (you mixed it =), you’re probably glad I didn’t I’m sure–not quite your style or instrumental quality, though the message was good.
I do still have the short video clip of ‘Never Lose the Wonder’ I recorded during worship in Nov. ‘04, but the sound quality isn’t very good, and I focused on the acoustic player as much or more than you (I just have this ‘thing’ for that little guy! =).
Thanks for sharing your heart (I do believe it is) through this song, and don’t ever stop “…asking…and waiting”. He hears, and truly is “the only One who loves” us that way.
D-
Brainteaser, thanks for stopping in and the kind words.
lazrus2, I can’t imagine why you’d focus on the guitar player, although I think he’s pretty cool
And, I had forgotten about Marianne’s song…oh my. Oh well, this one means a lot as you know. Thanks!
Awwwwww!!! If I close my eyes while I listen, I’m home again.
Okay, that cd that you’re *making* me
could you put this on there too please and thank you.
heehee
Love is gonna be SOOOO happy!
Loved it you guys. LOVED! IT! And I love this song. Gives me goose bumps.

Yes folks – you can thank me anytime! ( Nice job at anonymity ‘Bee’ at least i made some effort!
and THANK you – at long last!
Brother… it was worth the wait – you are way underestimating your talent to hold a tune and sing from love through the tools He has laid at your disposal.. Now i see where K and ‘K get their talent’s from… well some of them anyways
If there is a CD of YOU and the TRF singers – i wannit!
if that is raw whatever could it sound like ‘tweaked’????
Awesome – Freakin’ Awesome!
And thanks again Brent – now…. maybe some time an actual Duet?? – in your own time of course
And make certain you have copyright!
Thanks Man.

That was terrific Brent. You have a very good voice and sing in a higher register(?) than I had visualized. What I like best was way the music and singing worked together. Your voice complemented the music instead of overpowering. You had just the right degree of emotional in your voice for the song.
The song sounded very professionally produced and I especially liked the guitar work. Being a rock god in the air guitar world myslef,
, I guess I am partial to that instrument.
I have down loaded it and added it to my library.

That’s a great song. I’m always looking for new stuff to do at church since I kind of help with that sometimes.
Good to hear you guys’ do some music together!
The quality is a whole heck of a lot better than my wonky youtube vids of my out-of-tune piano!

Cheryl, I didn’t know you gys were going to be gone. Have a great trip!
Love, it’s all for Him…and after that, it’s all for you
Someday we will have a TRF CD, and you most definitely will get the first copy.
Ed, thanks! I like what you heard. And, we have 2 great guitar players, this one was a guy named AL, who’s history is Jazz, but he is very capable from genre to genre. He is a great guy as well.
Carrie, thank you! We’ll do more in the future I am sure.
Love cracks me up! He said “freaking awesome” HAHA!! THAT is freakin awesome! heehee
Love, they DO have a cd of the “TRF singers” that you can have. Brent, do they still sell them? I have one from a couple years back that they were selling. I LOVE it! If there are anymore I TOTALLY want in on that!
And Love, aren’t Brent and Tam just TOO modest!
heehee
Brandy’s last blog post…Because I forget so quickly….
We’ll be there this Sunday. I redeemed my airmiles back in September (good thing) before they expired. I’m sure that United/Air Canada are not pleased that a family of 4 will be flying for almost free!
Cheryl’s last blog post…Back When SNL Was Funny
Brandy, that as an old “demo” style CD that has been put to rest. we recorded it over a couple of weekends and that was it. Just to give people a chance to take a little of us with them. we are working on putting together something more formal, but time is precious so we will see.
Cool! This will be a great trip for you.
Yeah – What Ed said – goes double!
Brent – cool – and i don’t want no freebies – i’m paying the going rate! I have one request though? Could you and Tam and Kass and Kota sign the cover sheet – i want to auction it when you guys are famous!
Something ‘Catchy’ like ‘For love with love, love from B,T,K and ‘K or sump’n'?I can totally get why B feels he is not a performer..
What i can’t get is that he thinks he doesn’t have something amazing to ’show’ us all.
Bee? i’m not saying you are gonna be the next Andreas Bocelli but i KNOW what good singing talent is – and you have it in spades. Pick your songs carefully arrrange them as you feel comfortable with – sing for Him and let those who can appreciate music and feel uplifted by it be rewarded thanks to your Gift – do not hide your light under a Bushel – Matthew, i believe?
And Bwan? way tooo modest!

Well it isn’t no Winger, Poison, or Twisted Sister….
Brent… Tam… That was WAY COOL. (As I try to figure out how to download that as am MP3…
)
Stay humble Brent and Tam, you can hear that humbleness and love in you voices. God loves it when we use out gifts out of humility.

Okay. Umm…Well, I really enjoyed the music, but I kind of got lost once you started singing. I need lyrics to fully appreciate music, which goes with the territory when you’re Hard-of-hearing like me.
Would you mind putting up the lyrics, Brent?
(By the way, I had fun the other night, too. And I’m glad you Love “called you out.”)

Fantastic! You guys sound great. Such a spirit of worship…it is contagious!
that was quite awesome. Love the ‘Dwell’ CD… haven’t thought about it in a while. This is a shamefully great live recording.
Thanks to everyone! You are way too kind.
Noreaster, here re the lyrics in the order we sing them
I’ve been down this road so many times before
And here I am on this road again
I’m asking for mercy in spite of my sin
Oh Lord You are the only One who loves me this way
Here I am
Here I am
Waiting on You again
Waiting on You again
I’ve been down this road so many times before
And here I am on this road again
I’m asking for mercy in spite of my sin
Oh Lord You are the only One who loves me this way
Here I am
Here I am
Waiting on You again
Waiting on You again
Lord Your faithful love is watching over me
Though I often try and turn the other way
But now I come and surrender
To Your unchanging grace
Oh Lord You are the only One
Who loves me this way
Here I am
Here I am
Here I am
Here I am
Waiting on You again
Waiting on You again
WOW.
Thanks.
Wow.
